Your 15 minute timer is ready

The timer is already set to 15 minutes. Press Start and the countdown begins: the digits, the progress bar and the tab title all show the time left. When it reaches zero, the sound rings until you stop it. A quarter of an hour is short enough to start right away and long enough to finish something real.

What a 15 minute timer is good for

  • Quick nap: Lie down, start the timer and rest. Short naps are less likely to leave you groggy.
  • Classroom quiz: Project the countdown in full screen so the whole class can see the time left.
  • Long Pomodoro break: The classic long break after four focus rounds lasts 15 minutes. The Pomodoro timer handles it for you.
  • Chores: Fold a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher and wipe the counters.
  • Language practice: Review flashcards or do one lesson every day.
  • Roasted broccoli: Florets roast at 425°F in about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Instrument practice: A good daily length for young beginners on piano, guitar or violin.
  • Walk after a meal: A short walk after dinner is a pleasant habit.

15 minutes in seconds, and what fits in them

15 minutes is 900 seconds, a quarter of an hour. Andy Warhol is usually credited with the line that in the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. A 15-minute habit lasts longer: done every day, it adds up to more than 90 hours a year.

A tip for your 15 minutes

Pick one small daily habit and give it 15 minutes at the same time every day. Stop when the sound rings, even if you are on a roll: ending on a good note makes it easier to start again tomorrow. Need a longer block? Try the 20 minute timer or the 30 minute timer.

How to use the 15 minute timer

  1. Press Start. The countdown runs from 15 minutes down to zero.
  2. Pick a sound if you like. Turn the list to hear a bell, a chime, a classic beep, a digital beep or a gentle rise.
  3. Switch tabs freely. The countdown follows your device clock and stays exact. Keep this tab open to hear the sound.
  4. Stop the sound at zero, or tap +1 min if you need a little longer.

Need another length? Turn the minute wheel, or tap the digits and type the time on the keypad. The online timer also has presets for cooking, sport and relaxing, and a full screen mode that makes the countdown readable from across the room.

Questions

How many seconds are in 15 minutes?

15 minutes is 900 seconds. The timer counts them down on screen, and the tab title shows the time left too.

Is a 15 minute nap a good idea?

Short naps of about 10 to 20 minutes are often suggested for a quick boost, because they are less likely to reach deep sleep. This is a general guideline, not medical advice.

What can I get done in 15 minutes?

More than you might think: a load of dishes, a short workout, a page of notes, a phone call you have been putting off or a full review of tomorrow’s schedule.

Can I pause the 15 minute timer?

Yes. Press Pause to freeze the countdown, Resume to continue and Reset to go back to 15 minutes.

Does the 15 minute timer work on a phone?

Yes, in any modern browser. Keep the page in front with the screen on: the page asks your phone to keep the screen awake while the timer runs.
