Add a widget to a Notion page

  1. Make the widget above and tap Link for Notion.
  2. In Notion, on an empty line, type /embed and press Enter.
  3. Paste the link and click Embed link.
  4. Drag the bars on the sides and the bottom of the block to give it the size you want. The digits adjust.

If you paste the link on an empty line instead, Notion offers a small menu: choose Embed (not Bookmark or Mention).

Colors for light and dark mode

A widget with a colored background looks the same in light and dark mode. With no background, the text color matters: pick black, no background for a page in light mode and white, no background for dark mode. Notion adds its own rounded frame around embeds.

Ideas for a Notion dashboard

WidgetUse
Clock for each teammate’s cityA team page where everyone sees who is awake
Countdown to an exam or a deadlineA study planner or a project board
Countdown to a tripA travel page, with the departure time in the local time zone
25 minute timerA focus session next to your task list

Embeds also show in the Notion apps on phones and tablets. They load when the page opens, so a page with many widgets takes a little longer to appear. For a single page that shows many cities at once, open the world clock instead.

Questions

Why does Notion show a bookmark instead of the widget?

Notion chose Bookmark when you pasted. Delete the block, type /embed, paste the link again and confirm, or pick Embed in the menu that appears after pasting.

Does the widget work in a shared or public Notion page?

Yes. Anyone who opens the page sees the widget, with or without a Notion account, since the widget needs no login.

Can I use a widget in a Notion template I sell?

Yes, the widgets are free to use. The settings are in the link, so each buyer can make their own version on this page.
