Italy’s holidays are set by Law 260 of 1949, amended many times. Law 151 of October 8, 2025 restored October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, as a national holiday from 2026. Each town also takes its patron saint’s day off: June 29 in Rome, December 7 in Milan, June 24 in Turin, Genoa and Florence.
