Good to know
In Switzerland only August 1 is a federal holiday. The cantons set the others, up to eight days treated like Sundays, so the list changes from one canton to the next. The national list on this page keeps the days off in all or nearly all cantons: Good Friday is not a holiday in Ticino and Valais, and Neuchâtel has neither Easter Monday nor Whit Monday. The regional table, based on the list of the Federal Office of Justice, gives the rest canton by canton.
2026 and 2027 compared
In 2027, Switzerland has 7 public holidays, 5 of them on weekdays (Switzerland 2027). With its holidays removed, 2026 counts 255 working days from Monday to Friday, against 256 in 2027: month by month in working days in Switzerland 2026.
To count the working days between two dates, use the business days calculator; for the movable feasts of the year, see Easter 2026; and for the whole year on one page, the 2026 calendar.
