A timer your readers can start
Recipe blogs, teachers and coaches all have the same need: a timer right next to the instructions, so readers do not have to switch to their phone. The widget shows the duration in large digits, starts with a tap on the numbers or on the play button, pauses, resets and plays a sound at zero. A thin bar under the digits fills up as time passes.
Ideas
| Page | Duration |
|---|---|
| Soft-boiled eggs in a recipe | 6 min |
| Tea steeping | 3 to 5 min |
| A plank or a rest between sets | 1 min |
| A short exercise in class | 10 to 15 min |
| A Pomodoro session in Notion | 25 min |
For a full timer with presets, open the online timer. For focus sessions with breaks, the Pomodoro timer chains them for you.
About the sound
Browsers only let a page play sound after the visitor has touched it. When the visitor starts the timer with a tap, that tap also unlocks the sound, so it rings at zero. A timer that starts on its own is meant for OBS and for screens nobody touches: in a regular browser it may stay silent unless the visitor taps it once. You can also pick no sound at all, for a quiet classroom.
Durations
From 5 seconds up to 23 hours, 59 minutes and 55 seconds. Under an hour, the timer shows minutes and seconds; from one hour, hours as well.
