St. Nino of Georgia, December 15
A young woman from Cappadocia, Nino preached the Gospel in Georgia in the fourth century. By tradition she healed the queen and converted King Mirian, who made Christianity the religion of the kingdom. Her cross of grapevines is a symbol of the Georgian Church.
December 15 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Nino, evangelizer of Georgia on this date.
