Name days from A to Z

Here are the 834 names on our calendar, each with the feast day of the saint it comes from. The dates follow the General Roman Calendar and the U.S. calendar, completed by the Roman Martyrology. Each date links to its day page, with the saint’s story and the other saints of the day.

Can’t find a name? Look for the form it comes from: Jack for John, Molly for Mary, Mitchell for Michael. To check one name quickly, use the search in the tool above: type a few letters, accents optional.

How this calendar works

Each name points to one date: the feast of its best-known saint. Saints who share a name keep their own day on the day pages, so a name may appear in the “other saints” of several dates. Easter-dependent feasts move each year: see the date of Easter.

Questions

How do I find my name day?

Type your name in the tool at the top of the page, or find it under its first letter in the list. The date links to the day page with the saint’s story.

What if my name is not on the list?

Look for the name it comes from: Jack for John, Molly for Mary, Mitchell for Michael. Many modern names go back to an older saint’s name.

Can a name have more than one feast day?

Yes, when several saints share it. The list gives the feast of the best-known one; the others appear on their own day pages.
