St. Colette, March 6
Daughter of a carpenter in Picardy, Colette (1381-1447) lived first as a hermit, then set out to reform the Poor Clares. She founded or restored seventeen convents, whose nuns are still called Colettines. She died in Ghent.
March 6 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Colette of Corbie, virgin on this date.

Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival. If you know someone named Colette and Nicolette, it is a good day to send a note.
