St. Thérèse of Lisieux, October 1
Thérèse Martin (1873-1897) entered the Carmel of Lisieux at 15 and died of tuberculosis at 24. Her memoir, Story of a Soul, made her “little way” of trust and small acts of love known worldwide. Known as the Little Flower, she was named a Doctor of the Church in 1997.
On the General Roman Calendar, October 1 is a memorial: Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, virgin and doctor.
