St. William of Montevergine, June 25
After a barefoot pilgrimage to Compostela, William of Vercelli settled as a hermit on Monte Vergine, near Naples, around 1119. Disciples joined him, and he founded the abbey of Montevergine, still a major pilgrimage site. He died in 1142.
June 25 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint William of Vercelli, abbot on this date.
