St. Lea of Rome, March 22
A widow of the Roman nobility, Lea gave up her wealth to lead a community of consecrated women. St. Jerome praised her in a letter written soon after her death in 384. The name Leah comes from the Old Testament wife of Jacob.
March 22 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Lea, widow on this date.
