St. Germanus of Paris, May 28
Bishop of Paris from 555, Germanus (c. 496-576) advised the Merovingian kings and spent freely on the poor and on captives. He built the abbey of St. Vincent, where he was buried and which later took his name: Saint-Germain-des-Prés. He was known as the father of the poor.
May 28 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Germanus, bishop of Paris on this date.
