St. John Ogilvie, March 10
Raised a Calvinist in Scotland, John Ogilvie became a Catholic and a Jesuit on the Continent and returned home in disguise in 1613. Arrested in Glasgow, he refused to accept the king’s authority over the Church and was hanged on March 10, 1615. He was canonized in 1976.
March 10 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint John Ogilvie, priest and martyr on this date.

Keeping March 10
March 10 falls in winter. Since the general calendar has no celebration that day, the Mass is usually that of the weekday of the season, and the saint may be remembered in local calendars or in personal prayer. Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival.
