St. Rosalia, September 4
A young noblewoman of Palermo in the twelfth century, Rosalia lived as a hermit in a cave on Mount Pellegrino. Her bones, found in 1624 during an epidemic, were carried in procession, and the city credited her with ending the plague. She is the patron of Palermo.
