St. Lawrence O’Toole, November 14
Abbot of Glendalough and then archbishop of Dublin from 1162, Lawrence O’Toole fed the poor during famine and negotiated with the Anglo-Norman invaders. He died in Normandy in 1180 while on a peace mission to King Henry II. He is the patron of Dublin.
November 14 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Lawrence O’Toole, bishop on this date.

Keeping November 14
November 14 falls in November, the month the Church dedicates to praying for the dead. Since the general calendar has no celebration that day, the Mass is usually that of the weekday of the season, and the saint may be remembered in local calendars or in personal prayer. Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival.
