St. Zita, April 27
At 12, Zita (1218-1272) went to work as a maid for a family in Lucca, Italy, and stayed with them all her life. Mistreated at first, she won them over by her honesty and her kindness to the poor. She is the patron of domestic workers.
April 27 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Zita, virgin on this date.
