St. John Francis Regis, June 16
A French Jesuit, John Francis Regis (1597-1640) walked the mountains of the Vivarais and Velay to preach to poor farmers. He set up shelters for women at risk and helped lacemakers find work. He died of exhaustion at La Louvesc, where his shrine still draws pilgrims.
June 16 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint John Francis Regis, priest on this date.
