St. Willibald, July 7
An Anglo-Saxon monk, Willibald made a long pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the 720s, one of the first Englishmen known to do so. He then worked with his relative St. Boniface in Germany and became the first bishop of Eichstätt. He died around 787.
July 7 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Willibald, bishop of Eichstätt on this date.
