St. Augustine Zhao Rong and Companions, July 9
Augustine Zhao Rong was a Chinese soldier who escorted a missionary to his execution, converted and became a priest; he died in prison in 1815. He and 119 other martyrs of China, killed between 1648 and 1930, were canonized in 2000. Most were Chinese laypeople.
