St. Jane Frances de Chantal, August 12
Widowed at 28 with four children, Jane Frances de Chantal (1572-1641) met St. Francis de Sales, who became her spiritual guide. Together they founded the Order of the Visitation at Annecy in 1610. She was the grandmother of the writer Madame de Sévigné.
On the General Roman Calendar, August 12 is an optional memorial: Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, religious.
