St. Henry, July 13
Duke of Bavaria, then king of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor from 1014, Henry II (973-1024) supported church reform and founded the diocese of Bamberg, where he is buried with his wife, St. Cunigunde. He is one of very few emperors who became saints. He is the patron of Benedictine oblates.
On the General Roman Calendar, July 13 is an optional memorial: Saint Henry, emperor.
