St. Andrew, November 30
A fisherman of Galilee and brother of Simon Peter, Andrew was the first apostle called by Jesus, according to John’s Gospel. Tradition says he preached in Greece and was crucified at Patras on an X-shaped cross. He is the patron of Scotland, whose flag bears his cross.
On the General Roman Calendar, November 30 is a feast: Saint Andrew, Apostle.
