Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, November 27
On November 27, 1830, a young Daughter of Charity, Catherine Labouré, saw the Virgin Mary in her convent chapel on the Rue du Bac in Paris. Mary asked her to have a medal struck with the prayer “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Millions of these medals have been made since.
On November 27, the Church keeps Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

Keeping November 27
November 27 falls in November, the month the Church dedicates to praying for the dead. Since the general calendar has no celebration that day, the Mass is usually that of the weekday of the season, and the saint may be remembered in local calendars or in personal prayer. Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival.
