St. Saturninus, November 29
The first bishop of Toulouse in the third century, Saturninus refused to sacrifice to the gods. Pagan priests tied him to a bull that dragged him through the city, around 250. The Basilica of Saint-Sernin, one of Europe’s largest Romanesque churches, stands over his tomb.
November 29 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Saturninus, bishop and martyr on this date.

Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival. If you know someone named Saturninus, it is a good day to send a note.
