St. Jeanne Jugan, August 30
A poor woman of Brittany, Jeanne Jugan (1792-1879) took a blind, sick old woman into her own bed in 1839. From that act grew the Little Sisters of the Poor, who care for the elderly poor around the world. She was canonized in 2009.
August 30 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Jeanne Jugan, virgin on this date.
