St. Paternus, April 15
Born in Poitiers around 480, Paternus lived as a hermit on the coast of Normandy before becoming bishop of Avranches. He founded monasteries across the region. He died around 565, and the town of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer keeps his name.
April 15 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Paternus, bishop of Avranches on this date.

Keeping April 15
April 15 falls in spring. Since the general calendar has no celebration that day, the Mass is usually that of the weekday of the season, and the saint may be remembered in local calendars or in personal prayer. Families who keep name days often mark the day with a card, a candle or a favorite meal, and parishes named after the saint may hold a festival.
