St. Frumentius, October 27
Shipwrecked as a boy on the Red Sea coast, Frumentius was taken to the royal court of Aksum and became tutor to the future king. Ordained bishop by St. Athanasius around 328, he returned to evangelize the kingdom. He is honored as the apostle of Ethiopia.
October 27 has no celebration on the General Roman Calendar, so this page follows the Roman Martyrology, which remembers Saint Frumentius, bishop on this date.
