Transfiguration of the Lord, August 6
Jesus takes Peter, James and John up a high mountain, traditionally Mount Tabor, and his face shines like the sun as Moses and Elijah appear beside him. A voice from the cloud says, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” Pope Paul VI died on this feast in 1978.
On the General Roman Calendar, August 6 is a feast: The Transfiguration of the Lord.
