Exaltation of the Holy Cross, September 14
The feast recalls the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem in 335, built by Constantine over the site of Christ’s death and burial. It honors the cross as the sign of salvation. Relics believed to be from the true cross were kept there.
